i ride a 2010 R1 and i dont have any problems with it. you might want to have someone check yours out just in case it wasnt setup right.

Wow.... Well the jerk at low RPM is because your new R1 has a completely different engine than your old one... The cross plain crank shaft on the bike is what gives it the torquey feeling... it is also why your power delivers smoother than your other one once you are going... at least until you get up to about 165MPH.... that is where the ZX10s and 1000RR pull from me but not by much...

As for the tune, i have an 09 with K&N, Full exhaust and a dyno tuned Power commander 5 and i dynoed out at 168... try to stay away from the commander 3...

R1s are known for a hot seat but i have no problems with the full exhaust...

Make sure you check and see if the Cam chain tensioner recall has been replaced...

only other problem i have had is with the throtle position sensor... it caused problems at idle but that was it...

hope that all helps

Thanks guys was some good advice in some responses. Ive been lucky enough to have owned numerous sports bike over the years. The issues I described were relative to other bikes and if youve only ever had one bike and think its the nads then fairplay.

However, from experience.

The brakes suck , so soft not even funny. Gonna try the braided hose lines.
The handling typical R1 slow and predictable.
The jerky throttle, yeah I Understand its a cross plane crank shaft thats why I bought it "was thinking character" but Im begining to think it was a real motogop sales gimimc, still love the sound though.
The underseat way toastier than my 07 bike so no leaps forward in evolution there either.

Gonna fit a PC5 for the jerky response see if it improves and thinking would really like a side mount exhaust. Have seen soemthing nice form racefit but might try and get something custom made.

Anyone have any idea about custom pipes fabrication, material, form, best slip on silencer that would work or even a local company with experience? Have a guy who can do stainless steel pipe work but no experience on bikes.

Anyhow thanks very much for all the replys gonna get to work as soon as that tax cheque comes in.

OMG I have a new "new" bike. Re-flashed ECU @ Jett tuning, different bike entirely why dont Yamaha build them like this.

Bike feels fantastic. Dont notice any drop in performance form my 2010 fireblade.

Brake lines, KN and PC5 on order. Got something special planned for the exhaust. Lovin this bike now. If you do one mod for your R1, do the ecu re-flash.
