Thoughts on different bikes

http://www.kawasaki.com/Products/pro...id=417&scid=14
I like this bike I'm just not sure if it's going to have the top speed I want.
What I'm looking for is a bike I can ride to and from work all surface streets for now but that may change and something I can rock on the country roads on the weekend. I want something that can hang on the freeway without getting run over because I can't go over 60-70. I'm new to whole idea of a motard but chad got me thinking on Monday. I'm not opposed to the klr 650 or any brand or size for that matter so I want to hear what you guys recommend and why.

2012 klr 650

I love my klr i use it to commute 50 miles each way . 5.8 gal tank makes it very nice top speed is about 95 mph but soon i am changing to a 17tooth frt sprocket and two brothers slip on pipe that should bring down the rpms so i can run 80mph at 4500 rpm . good fun but heavy as in mud trails are fine dirt roads would be a blast . i usually get around 45 mpgs it hits reserve at 180-200 miles then i hit the gas station but should have about a 250 range . they say it gets 55 mpg but i have yet to see that , i would guess 55mpgs is based on 50-65 mph. hope thats a little helpful to you

Another option would be a V-Strom (DL650 or 1000). The DL650 is similar to the KLR but a lot more paved road friendly. The DL1000 would have plenty of engine for you.

My DL650 gets 50 mpg consistently in city and on the HWY (at 70mph).

My problem is that above 70mph my bike has no torque/power. It takes forever to get from 70 to 90mph. Plus the VStrom is not the prettiest bike either, lol...

It does get to 105 max speed though (based on GPS, speedometer is too optimistic).

the klr will still pull hard till about 90 plenty to pass a car or get out the way . hope the 17 tooth will get me over the 100 mph area , still need a taller windshield , baja worx dakar looks cool with out being to grandpaish lol . i thought about the v storm but wanted more off road friendly without it costing to much if it got beat around or dropped on the trails
