Ha. It is on the agenda... and im a noob! I worked corners at MSRH but id like to just go around it a time or two before I spend the money, dump the front end in turn 1 of the first lap and be out the cost.

parade laps are a great way to be able to get the view of being on a circuit track.

The parade pace is no where near "race-pace" of a trackday, but it's still a great way to scope out turns are setup. etc....

you are not going to dump the front end on turn one...
during the first two sessions you will be doing round robin... follow the leader...
that is designed to get you aquainted with the proper lines around the track...
and on parade laps you might not get that down correctly...
also during class before the round robin, they will explain where the track markers are and what purpose each serves, you will not get that info on a parade lap either...
so combine round robin session with a proper understanding of the lines, the markers.. and you will get a much better understanding of the track than any parade lap will do... parade laps are for harley riders to be able to say they were on the track..hehehehe

I don't think you are seeing the good points of parade laps. You've had years of riding experience and multiple TDs.

For someone that has never ever even been ON a track muchless a real TD, parade laps are a great way to get the butterflies out for the very first time.
Also you get a chance to see how a trackday works if you hang around. How you go to class, check pressures/gas in between sessions, countdowns, how they call out the next group to the grid, etc.

You cannot substitute parade laps for a trackday by any means, but I remember my first time doing parade laps, and when I went back for my very first TD, I wasn't wondering the whole time "what it was like" to be on a closed circuit track, I was able to concentrate on what the instructors were teaching.

I was kidding about dumping the front end on turn one. I wasn't trying to start a discussion on parade laps vs. track days. I have every intention of participating in Track days this year... Just wanted to take a couple laps to get a feel for the track so when I go to the track day at that track I at least am familiar with the layout.

I realize that parade laps are no substitution for the instruction at a trackday. Thanks for the insight everyone now back to our paid programming. Is anyone riding out there for this? If you are I would like to tag along. If noone is then so be it...

To the OP,, smart to see the track before participating at a trackday, everyone says to watch videos but unless Ive actually riden the track usally doesnt help me at all, just makes it more confusing.
