People on the chron site are fixating on the disc brake in the tree. The land drops off from the road to the ditch. He could be at legal speed, leave the road, drop from road level, and still hit above ground. The measurement of 8 feet was done from the base of the tree, not the road level.

Triumphant, I like your comments on chron site. Unfortunately you are talking to a bunch of idiots on there.

Condolences to the family.

I wonder if they are going to start cracking down on those two streets.

well somebody had to say something. Funny how many peoples opinions(what they refer to as fact) on motorcyclists, seem to be based on what they're told by other people, who oddly enough, aren't motorcyclists.

Riders need to speak up more in the community. In a polite, honest way. If we don't defend against accusations and wildly ill-informed assumptions, with fact, and tact, those unchecked biases will only grow.

I agree--the info about the tree marks and disc brake is misleading.

People love a spectacle. And sadly a rider getting killed brings out the in a lot of people because they dont approve of the idea of riding in general. I have had lots of people who have never even been on a bike tell me I am gonna die on it and tell me about people that they know knowing people that died. In general the average person is an idiot, its best to ignore the spewed from their mouths.

RIP to the rider and condolences to the family.

I'm gonna hold off on his last name, he was an old neighbor/friend/aquaintance,when we moved his GF and mine stayed best friends,Nick was an awesome guy to sit around with and shot the with u,wether it be videogames, sports or just to enjoy a nice cold one, the SOB was a pain in the sometimes but he had a huge heart, he was always willing to help anyone that needed it, he never liked to let anyone down....I've been sitting with my GF talking about him since we got the news,he had only gotten back on 2 wheels for a year since he took a break, he rode a naked R6 that he was gonna sell to me before I bought mine, he's defently gonna b missed as a son/brother/boyfriend/all around kind of guy.....this is the 1st time I've had someone I knew b involved in something like this,so I've been sitting here just thinking about life and how fast it can be taken away and how the sadness of losing a uncle/husband/son/brother could effect a family, tonight please go home and look into the eyes of those u love and just give them a hug just because u can
