Smile NOOBS--Bike Pickup Escort

Several times I happened to be in the right place at the right time, and I got to meet up with a couple of bike virgins as they picked up their very first rides. Was pretty cool--tis how I met Russian Jack, and he's one of favorite-st peeps on the planet.

So, for those of you who are picking up your first bike (or getting back into riding after a long break) and would like to have an experienced rider meet ya and go along for that inaugural trip, post up! Doesn't matter if you're going to a dealership or private seller. Give us a day/time/place in as much advance as possible.

Here's the one I made for Jack. Had a ton of fun--took me by surprise, but that's the beauty of doing this sort of thing.

Looking to buy one...

This is awesome!! Thanks man, im a oob and looking to buying my first bike pretty soon, just waiting for some funds. A buddy that was going with me to look at bikes just left to the "stan" a week ago and I cant find anybody else that knows about bikes to come with. I was going to have whoever I met for a possible purchase to take the bike to Motorcycles Unlimited for inspection but im sure some guys wont go because its far away. But this is great, expect a post from me soon, I hope!!!

I'm hoping other folks will see and help. I won't be able to escort everyone (well, unless I win the lottery ). But the idea is to post the info so others can see and respond if they're available, so as soon as you know--post up!

Sure I would. I've had one wicked get-off and remember how it felt getting back up. I refused to wait long, but I had to play ridiculous psy-ops with myself for a long time. I think for folks who are in your position, an experience rider who's been there can help. It's good to ride with one person at a time for a while to ease back in; I would suggest adjusting and growing comfortable before you start looking to go on group rides.

This is perfect for me! I'm actually looking to get a 250 in about 2 weeks to a month and I dont know anybody on a bike! I'll definitely post up with more details when I have them, for now I'll be at MSF not this weekend but the next.

Great thread!

If I am in town count me in. Can help with escort, checking the bike out or even trailering home if you are not quite ready to ride it...

Great idea.
Luckily, I had a brother with a M license to test ride and bring mine home. Got my license 3 weeks later and gradually started riding around my area.
