Question First Bike,First Ticket, No License

Alright it's story time, I've been riding for about a month now. This evening my cousin and I rode out to purchase a pair of frame sliders for my bike. On the way home he gets pulled over for speeding and I decide to stop and wait for him. The Texas State Trooper then issues me a ticket for no license even though I was not actually pulled over, I didn't have to stop and the only reason I did was to wait on my folk. I guess I don't know all the unwritten rules yet...
Anyone have any suggestions?
First post too!

Well, despite the fact that you weren't actually pulled over, I would guess that the citation for riding with no license is still legit. Sucks to hear, I know. Have you taken your MSF class? If so, it shouldn't take much to get your M class license. If not, I HIGHLY recommend doing so.. Not only will you learn a LOT, it's also pretty fun.

As far as unwritten rules, there's absolutely no reason or law saying you can't pull over and wait for a friend, just don't try to go arguing with the cop.. That's probably (I can't say for sure, but I'm sure someone else will) not illegal either, but cops have a way of twisting things to make them look like you're a horrible person.

All that said, welcome to MH!

Don't beat yourself up tooooo much, I have to admit that I probably wouldn't have thought about that either, until it was too late.

The cop should be able to flag both of you down with no problem. If he wasn't pulling you over, there was no reason to stop. The last time this happened to a group of us Hwy 6 headed to Navasota, a cop lit up the last bike in our group and we all slowed it down but kept going. The guy he lit up pulled over and so did the cop. We stopped ahead at a gas station but did not have the guy's number so no way to contact him. We waited 30 mins but never saw him.

I wouldn't have stopped, but I defenitely wouldn't have accelerated either. I'm assuming if a cop wants everyone to pull over, he'll pull up in front and slow you all down or get on his horn and tell you ALL to pull over.

Welcome and get your license!

thats good you waited for your "folk", next time just much farther down the road, right
and having a license IS a written rule...
MSF is now required to get your license.

I believe towing your bike if you don't have an M Class is now in effect.
I've heard it depends on the cop too, but I guess if you're gonna roll the dice it doesn't make much of a difference.
