noob question: sitting on bikes

I want to go sit on some bikes at a dealership and was wondering, should you ask a salesman first or what...is there any kind of unspoken rule?

yep, ask first... most sales dept. folks are more than willing to show you any bike you are interested in... and especially for ladies to check out the seat height and if their feet will touch the ground...

If its inside walk up and sit on it like you own the place. If your serious about buying they won't care.

The only time to ask is when there's a sign on the bike saying to ask. Usually that's only on particularly expensive bike.

no one ever had an issue with a sales person if they asked before sitting on a bike.

I would say this, just as common courtesy, especially if you don't know anything about them or have never handled one.

This is ok too, but like I said, if you don't have much knowledge or experience with bikes, it's probably best you have someone there help if needed. Plus it's just polite.

I would also make sure and ask first even for some help if they're parked really close together. You may need someone who knows how to handle it pull it out some just to make sure you don't kick the one next to it.

Best thing to do is ask. You're hopping on pretty expensive inventory.
