Personally, I don't mind riding in the rain. It's having to clean up the mess on the bike afterwards that I don't like. You're right about ice hurts. We ran into a rain/sleet storm on the way to 3Sisters last year. I tucked in behind C14's raised electric windscreen, but I had just switched to fingerless gloves on the previous stop. Them rice grain size sleet hurt like the dickens on cold bare skin.
I've found one ice patch at low speed. Still amazed the front didn't tuck. I bet that sleet really sucked. Must of felt like your skin was being peeled off.

Congrats. There's many more where that came from. Just practice, practice, practice and you'll actually look forward to the ride home. Seat time, get some!
Thanks!
Ive actually been aching to get out the office. At first I was nervous but after a minute or so, it gets enjoyable

I didn't even check the temp, just put on my winter jacket. I never get sick but I've had a sore throat for several days now and I'm not happy about it

It's miserable being sick - I had a sinus infection, and I'm fairly certain my helmet was smashing my brain. Luckily I'm feeling much better this morning, but 34 was too cold for me to ride, plus I have to bring home a huge wooden crate from work, so I stole the truck.

I figured it was in the low 30's because thats when I start to get cold even with cold weather gear on. Woke up at 0330 and drove from humble to astrodome area. Picked up a crane and took him to baytown, escorted a truck from barbours cut to 59/242 and made it back home and got in bed by 7 am. It was uncomfortably cold the entire way.

I love riding in cold weather. Bike parking at my building is wide open. I'm one of only three people in this building that ride no matter what the weather (with the exceptions of icy roads and hail). We have some pretty good laugh/ sessions about the fair weather riders. I love it when fair weather guys tell me it's too cold to ride. I usually ask, "Why? Your bike won't start below 70 degrees?"

No. I won't start below 50F.

I used to ride regardless the weather or temperature, but now I just can't do it. I have low iron/hematocrit/hemoglobin and for whatever reason if I get that cold I just can't function. It's scary. Basically, I'm a quart low of blood and oxygen all the time.
