Wonderful ride in this morning....light traffic made for comfortable ride about 15 mph faster than traffic pace. Stopped to fill up before hitting the parking garage and noticed some oil/dirt residue where the clutch cable enters the gear box/tranny/etc. The life of a Harley....looks easily accessible though.

With it getting chilly in the mornings I was thinking about buying some thermal body suit pieces to keep the chill out. Are the academy ski pieces as good as the stuff you get from CG?

I wear ski pants over my riding pants and they work good. They totally block the cold even on the coldest days. I snow ski also, so I naturally already had some.

I'm sure they will keep the cold out, but bike-specific gear is much better and don't cost that much more when you catch them on sale or closeout. Mfrs introduce new collections every year and they dump the previous yrs stock for cheap.

The best money I've spent on cold weather gear is a pair of overpants. They have zipper down almost full length on both side, so you can slip in and out in seconds. They also come with CE armor and padding that ski pants don't have. Although not as abrasion resistant as leather, the textile is of a much heavier weave than the typical ski wear. Mine came with a liner for riding in even colder temps. Best part is for commuting, I can wear them over khakis or even dress pants.

I was actually referring to the fleece base layer stuff. Sorry for being kinda generalized in the question. It seems like it won't restrict movement much.

There should be some strong thunderstorms later this evening and a cold front. Apparently supposed to happen at 5pm-ish.

My mom just filled my tank, I think I'll play it safe.
