Seriously its not that I am so concerned with appearance, so much as a from my Army days I am convinced that a clean machine is a well maintained machine and a well maintained machine is clean. Not that we were ever afraid to get them dirty. Its a matter of pragmatism; I don't have a lot of time to ride, and I prefer not to ride in conditions that increase the time spent preparing or recovering from a ride. Some love riding and hate wrenching. I love riding and I'm ok with wrenching, but I'm not very fond of cleaning.

So sorry if I offended anyone. To me, riding in inclement weather, is part and parcel to being a motorcyclist. It is not for everyone. The cleaning after a ride is part of the ritual to me. Not going to miss out on a great ride just because I just waxed my baby.

If I can't hit the turns hard because it's wet, it's not much of a ride

You would be surprised at what your bike will do in the rain. Not all bad.

Just a caveat. Houston drivers suck so bad, commuting in the rain is not a good idea.

Uh, yeah, I know. We rode from Houston to Hemphill, TX in the rain. If you hit turns in the wet just as hard as dry, you need to try harder

It seems like every time I plan a motorcycle vacation it rains most of that week. After riding 5 or 6 days in the rain you begin to realize that water resistant and waterproof don't amount to much more than another sales pitch.

I can't stand riding dirty bikes. A clean machine is less likely to develop problems.

While I have no problem riding in the hot or cold, I avoid riding wet like the plague. Yeah, I do take my chances with the shifty (or shitty?) weather reporting around here, so I do get caught occasionally. I wash the bike very soon after it gets cruddy, sometimes that very night when it's still raining.

Jeez, ya bunch of whiners... 60% of the year it's too hot to commute, 20% it's too cold, and of the 6-8 or so weeks of great temps there's not enough parking because it's taken up by Harleys or too high a chance of rain. Suck it up and just ride.

thought about it, realized the bike is still in track day mode and didn't have time to mess with it....plus, with TWS (Texas World Speedway) coming up next weekend I left it alone. beautiful riding weather today.

Decent ride in this morning, but I was over dressed, had to stop and shed a layer. Actually could have gone with my summer gear. Very nice out.
