I drove my car because they were doing complimentary car detailing for employee appreciation day. When I showed up they informed us in the meeting that the date has been changed...

It took me a while to warm up once I got to work, but I am definitely looking forward to the ride home. Anyone headed from nw to se? I'm taking surface roads to downtown and then HOV to Ellington P&R

I have a similar commute distance through the heart of houston. Good luck out there. It's actually a little on the hot side already when you're sitting in traffic.

My mirrors prevent it most of the time. Along with people staggering their cars to see how much further the congestion is. I don't hesitate if I have an opening though, shoulder or splitting.

How touch is HPD on lane splitting, anyone get a ticket for it while otherwise riding sane?

I was riding the outside lane (where people usually park) downtown and passed a police van. I wanted to stop but it was too late, lol. Nothing happened to me.

I've only been pulled over by the sheriff riding in the emergency lane. Verbal warning and she sent me on my way. I was just following the. Biker cops lead.

Like most LEO encounters, it depends on the cop. 10-15 MPH while traffic is stopped usually won't draw much attention. Splitting at 50 while traffic is going 30 is a bad idea. Using the shoulder is dumb for a few reasons, not least of which is all the trash there. You're pretty much asking for a flat tire. Don't split on the HOV. I spoke with a metro cop. He told me he popped a bike for splitting and the DA took reckless driving charges. No idea if it stuck, though.
