, the dreaded rectifier and stator.

Got my fingers crossed about these on my '02. Already know I'm in need of a starter clutch.

The crankcase doesn't smell like a toasted stator, but I'm not ruling it out yet. I have the service manual and it has the specs for testing each part. Right now the battery is on the charger to top it back off.

On the way in the ABS light started flashing, then when I rolled off from a stop, the whole cluster blanked out and it died at about 10 mph and wouldn't turn over again. I started it at home later with 11.6 volts showing on the battery, and even at 6000 rpms I was only getting about 11.7 volts at the battery.

This is the first time I've ever had an issue with the bike. just over 41,000 miles. Fortunately I was right by a driveway and not stranded in the HOV or on 610 somewhere!

Yeah good thing you were close. I just had my harness and brake recall done. I don't think the dealer was too happy to spend all those hours working on a 2002! haha.

Thats the stator and I am sure.

I had the same issue. At least one node is burnt out on the stator I can almost guarantee it.

I changed mine myself. New one was about $300 but seems bo have a much better coating that the origional (Kawi fixed the issue).

Leaving work after a forever long day is so relieving even with traffic on 610.

I like that... I really don't need it since I already have a voltmeter and clock on the Busa but... I'd like that one for the thermometer... If I wasn't selling my 1000 I'd throw one on there..

Thanks for the link.

That was myself and my friend who posts on here (TexZ). We were trying to get out of there and beat traffic as we were heading to his lake house on Lake Conroe for a forest ride the next morning.

Was a decent ride in, soon as I pulled into the shop and got my bike it came down like crazy.

Probably gonna be pretty nasty on the way home.

I commute every day on the bike and have been carrying a rain suit with me in case it's raining when I leave work. So far I've been lucky that only rains when I'm at work and not during my commute in or on my way home.

Same here, all breaks loose while at work but an hour or so before I leave it dries out
