Who rode in today?

Driving out of Houston today, just wanted to note that all but 1 of the riders I saw were wearing helmets, and most had at least a jacket on. Supermoto, standard, sport, cruiser, the lot. Well done Houston.

Pretty soggy on the way in. There are usually only two other guys (both on Harleys) besides me in my building that ride in this weather, so I was really surprised to see two sport bikes in the garage when I got here.

A few weekend back, I ran over a dead squirrel right in the middle of a blind turn. I was already in the lean and the tire rolling over the squishy mess and leaving ground veered my track wide toward the shoulder, where there was a lot of loose gravel. Nothing I can do but keep the bike tucked into the turn and trust the tires. Front tire thudding over the gravel outside the white line made for a major pucker moment. The tires did do their job and I recovered.

A mile down the road, saw another two squirrels freshly run over, one was still there twitching in the middle of the road. Must be mating season - passion blinding caution.

Rode into work and almost got ran over by two cagers within 5 minutes. One was a brown chevy that was switching lanes right on top of my . Had to lay on the brakes and horn, just to be sure he doesn't. Right after that happened, next red light we come to, a small white geo or some hoopty wasn't paying attention for , laid on his brakes and locked up his wheels. Had a squeezing moment, jumped up next to the car in front of me. If I didn't, that cager would've pinned my against them both. WTF is up with this morning? Add a bit of a mist and people go straight .
