Works alright on galaxy nexus. Was a bit too sensitive... wasn't responding to the cancel button. Great idea though.

If bumps are setting it off, use a custom setting for sensitivity. (It's in the options menu) Once an alarm gets triggered, and if you can receive a GPS signal, moving 8 feet will cancel the alarm. You can test this outside but if you're trying it inside, you probably won't get a GPS signal so the text will still get sent.

One of the issues we are working on is a lay-down. You fall, which triggers CRADAR, but then you slide more than 8 feet, which cancels the alarm. We talked about giving the user the ability to turn off the GPS cancelling feature but decided against it. The reason - false alarms.

Like the boy who cried wolf, false alarms will kill this app. Our thinking went like this:
If the phone is on the bike, it's probably getting bumped enough to keep the alarm active. If you have the phone on you, and you tumble, the alarm will still activate. If you don't tumble, you're going to have some road rash to deal with but you will probably be able to call for help.

Anybody have any thoughts about this? The new version will be coming out in a couple of weeks and we can still include an option to turn off GPS cancelling the alarm.

I did the custom sensitivity option and either way here's what I have noticed...

I can hold my phone and move it downward suddenly and it will activate but, if I drop it on the floor (I would think much higher g-forces) it will not. I've also taken it outside and tossed it on the ground several times and no activation. Like the sensitivity is too high.
But then I can pick it up and move it suddenly down or toss it in the air and when I catch it, it activates.
Any idea why that would be?
I'm not criticizing, because I think it's a fantastic idea and a great use of technology. I'm just giving feedback.

The new version gives you the ability to add several contacts. We are also setting it up so you have to custom set the sensitivity when you open the app for the first time. It seems like every phone uses a completely different setting and our current menu of standard settings just isn't getting it done.

Maybe it would be possible to make the distance required to cancel the activation greater. Like 20 feet.
If the person is able to move that far then they are likely not in a critical state.

This sounds like a good idea.

How about just having a delay... like it detects the "incident" and then delays 10-30 seconds before checking GPS for movement?

You can even make it user adjustable so that there is no "complaints"

I have a cheapo NFC tag inside my jacket pocket so that when i slide my phone into my jacket it starts up the app without me thinking about it..

As for iphone versions, you should just submit it to the Cydia app store there is a lesser chance of them rejecting it. though only jailbroken users will be able to access it.

after reading the SMR thread, and the season is coming up....i decided to rebump this thread. It's an extremely useful app and i won't ride without it. It's too bad it's for androids only.
