Which Bike Would Be Cheaper Insurance

an f4i, new ninja 650, daytona 650 or a sv650

i would figure the ninja, arent they still carbed?

but the f4i is older

the daytona barely has any parts available

while the sv has the vtwin, not sure how insurance companies see those compared to i4s but i was paying out the for my rc51. i think like 180mo, but i did have a speeding ticket on my record

ive pretty much narrowed my bike to these and itll come down the insurance. i like honda (they have all been reliable to me), the daytona has that sharp look i like, the ninja is very comfy and i can fix those dirt bike bars, the sv has that growl of a vtwin

Cheapest to insure might be the bike that has the lowest fair market value

b/c the SV isn't considered a supersport.

i thought they were all sport touring except they daytona

and i thought insurance was based more on what the bike is worth, like average repair costs and displacement...etc

I just checked this recently - SV650 has crazy low rates because it is considered a "standard."

Also, FWIW, GS500F is also considered a standard, even with the fairings.

Other things to figure in:

Year of bike?
Full coverage or liability only?
Age?

I planned to get full coverage on my first bike (2002 R6). When they quoted me $1800/year I nearly shat. Then I found out it was $102/year for liability only. Simple math told me that if I could two years without a wreck I could bank the savings and just buy another bike (paid $3500 at the time) if I needed to. I basically insured myself. Just some people aren't willing to take the risk.

Just something to consider.

Back in 05 when I bought my first new SV, insurance was like $500 full coverage. Now with a 05 in my garage insurance is like 250 full coverage.

If its liability only, I doubt very much that the difference will be significant...
I mean you will pay <$10 per month anyways ...

Not many insurance companies will do that. I was once shopping around and the major companies would not separate theft out of their comprehensive/collision package, which was crazy expensive. I do not know if things are different now.

Check with the MH sponsor as I see he/she is with Statefarm. Thats the company I ended up with, beacause they offered me liability AND theft for the price the others offered liability only, and then when I decided to add collision to that a few months later, it was exactly half what others were asking for.

Of course, I was so satisfied that I moved all my policies there.... And got better rates for those too...

$350/year for liability, theft and uninsured motorist or $150 for liability only

IMO, the 650r would be the cheapest on insurance (only slightly less than the SV) because their is nothing sporty about it lol. For Christ's sakes, the 2012 650 has wider bars, taller/adjustable windscreen...they even dropped the R from the name
