You haven't seen cold until you've worked in the Beaufort Sea with temps averaging -47 Deg C (-53 Deg F) and the wind chill dropping them to -66 Deg C (-87 Deg F) and like 15 feet of snow.

That is AWESOME...to look at, but I don't think even my crazy a$$ would want to be there....even though I do really want to go swimming in alaska before I die.

I froze my finger while out taking pictures one day. Pulled my glove off and off came a chunk of my finger too. The light you see in the pictures is all I saw for 7 weeks. There would be the little bit of light for about 1 hour everyday and then darkness again. It SUCKED!

Dry cold, but the wind goes right through your close. You gotta wear lots of layers. When I worked in Siberia I used to wear my winter coveralls 18 hrs a day and never took my toque off even when I slept.
