In need of new tires!

Looking for somewhere to get some new rubber without being raped. Really just need the rear for now. 180-55-zr17. I have a set of Pirelli Rosso's on it now and would like to keep the same rear tire. Ebays at $180 for the rear and $315 for the set (with free shipping)

Check out our local Sponsors for deals and Cycle Gear too. They may price match as well

rosso corsa is designed for track duty than street duty, it wears out quicker than most of tires, but it is worth it

I've put over 7K on the set I have now and the front tire is still in good shape. I think I'm just going to get a new set though. I mostly ride Highway so a friend suggested the BT023 Rear and a BT016 Front.

I had BT-016 front and rear installed at cheap tires for 300 after tax. Very happy with the tires! I will see how long they last though. May have to adjust my riding style. lol.

The BT016 go for 196 a set free shipping on ebay. I'd just have to find somewhere to get them mounted.

if your that easy on "soft" tires, you'd get 2x that on a sport touring tire. which is basically how you ride.

stubbs on telephone just hooked me up w/ a michelin pilot rd 3, and they have 180/55/17 PR2 in stock

mail order isn't always the way to go, your still gonna have to pay somebody more money to mount that tire, and i;ve heard some shops won't even mount "loose" tires.

1/2hr labor per tire is about right, $70-80/hr is pretty common in bike shops

if they mount it for "free" then the labor is in the price of the tire, not alot of markup on tires

"alot" is relative of course.

I also bought my last set locally. The best part was that I ordered them over the phone from a site sponsor, and they shipped them to my house!

Lyckiky I have connections (family member with a No-Mar) and installation was free.

OK so screw Texas powersports they were 100 dollars more expensive on tires than the same set on eBay plus they were still going to charge me to mount them. What a ripoff

and i agree $100 is a bit high.

I figure that the shop has to pay the guy who changes the tire....
not sure what you think your time is worth... if you want to save some money, take the wheels off the bike and carry them in...or buy some tire tools and change them yourself...me, I appreciate the service that the folks give me and I am willing to pay for it...if you want local shops who do a good job and back up what they do, then it costs a little to keep them in business...

Thanks to the guys down at Motorcycles Unlimited!!! They were only like 40 higher for a mixed set (BT023 in the rear BT016 in the front ) which I don't mind paying for since its a local dealer and I can deal with someone in person. Even better for anyone wondering their mounting prices are the same regardless if you buy from them or not. $15 per wheel if brought in and 85 for both tires if you just bring them your bike. Thanks guys!
