R6 rattle noise

I have a 2010 r6, when i increase the rpms there is a loud rattling nosie. It only starts doing that around 4000 and up and juss gets louder. I checked oil levels they are fine. I have researched to see what the problem is and mostly everybody is saying its the cam chain tensioner. Any ideas so i can take care of this and hop back on road asap.! Thx

this... back track and check for loose , I doubt a 2010 bike would have a weak cam chain tensioner already

The cam chain tensioner will only rattle for a few seconds at cold start.. not while riding it if i'm not mistaking.. I had that problem before on my 07.

You're talking about a rattle noise when getting on the gas?

just like they said check for loose connection.. and why are you trying to fix this your self?? you know you have 1 year warranty?

Drop it off at the dealer and have them fix it.. unless you think you it up your self..

a weak cam chain tensioner can rattle at times other than cold start. it will tick at idle. but if there is no noise at idle and it starts at 4000 rpm, then it is something else.

i have had a couple honda that would rattle. first time I ran across it it was so bad it rattled all the time. my dad bought the bike and the cams eventually jumped time and cratered the engine. the second time I had a superhawk and it started in with ticking at idle. replaced the tensioner and all was well with the world. but the key is is doesn't rattle under a load with a bad tensioner. under a load, the slack is taken up and it should be quiet.

A cct noise will typically be heard on decel/down side of the rev.
If it only makes the noise at idle for a few seconds when it's cold there's nothing wrong with it

Wal-Mart sells a whole box of earplugs for a few bucks. You probably won't hear the rattle any more after the first dose.
