Check your wheels and maybe your forks, I bet that you bent something expensive... Bent the lip on my rear wheel the last time I went for a ride with some Ducs, and from the sounds of it our pace was A LOT slower than yours. Didn't know that it was bent until I had another tire installed. (and this is on a Honda that is comparable to a tank on two)

Another pointer, is your suspension tuned? Probly worth more than a damper but not as much as proper riding gear and trackdays. Everyone eats it one way or another, if your lucky you can walk away... or extremely lucky and ride away.

Dane Long, Where exactly on the road you hit? Was it that big hump before the left turn light heading towards Kirby? Take it easy and notes those bad spots. Been down that road and I somewhat know what is where. Glad you made it out ok!

for sure I thought one of us is going down last night. But yeah, the damper is a good thing. It was dark right where the stupid biggo speed bump was in the middle of the dang road. After I hit it, it sent me up from my seat and trust me, you'll feel the pain between your legs. No, it's not a good road going INTO allen parkway.
By the way, KEN, I tested out the stealth mode at night. Everything's works out great except they says, all they can see is the light shining on the road in front of me. 'so, in other words, my headlights is still very visible. But I really dig the switches. You my man are a genius!!!!!!!

i rode it last night going away from town and a couple of turns before the road becomes all chewed up theres a left that has a mean hill then drops down then you got to flick it right for the next corner. if i didnt have hot race tires on i probably would have ate but instead i stuck to the road like glue and i dont have a problem with not having a steering damper

Thumbs down

Allen Parkway has got to be one of the worst streets in Houston for accidents. The poor pavement combined with some of the curves creates a big headache for those that have to work the accidents, myself included. Allen Parkway was big back amoungst the squids until so many people started dying. But it has slowed down a bit though. Kinda reminds me of the 610 loop runs.

As far as the damper, I totally agree. I had my first tank slapper last week on 45 near downtown, after hitting a large pothole on the freeway. It was totally my fault becuase I was not scanning ahead like I should have been. No damper here, I just relaxed my grip on the bars and hoped for the best. Luckily I didn't go down and survived to tell about it. But I still hope to get a damper in the next few weeks.

Do the rest of your fellow riders a favor and lay off the Allen Parkway runs. Sportbikers get enough heat and if you would have ended up as a spot on the pavement, it wouldn't do anybody any good.
