Welcome. My 2 cents: get a used low cc bike for the first bike to get used to riding, then move up

Some of my buddies gave the same advise. Told me start with a used 600cc. I would like the Yamaha R6, but im willing to look and maybe purchase other bikes. I need to read a lot more to figure out what to look for when buying from owner. Dont really feel like getting screwed over on the price. I need to read on the lingo because I dont understand half of what the people are saying on their comments. obo?? bump?? up?? gwals??

Hey, bro. Just did the MSF at Awesome Cycles last month. Been riding a lot since I got my bike.

What kind of machine are you looking for? Best of luck on the search.

Yamaha R6, if I cant find it, then GSX-R, dont really like the CBR or Ninja body styles.

R6 is a great machine. My buddy and my cousin both have the R6s and they enjoy riding them. One of them is looking for some more power however. There's an R6 for sale in the Bike Sale section of the forum. You probably should limit the $ for the first bike, given you would only run it for ~ 1 year then look for a bike of your liking.

Yea, ive seen a 2006 Raven, blk with red wheel trim. Guy wants 5,500 for it, has plenty of mods. Saw a 2007 charcoal / gray too, really nice for 6,800. If the price is right, ill take one or the other. I should be able to make an offer this weekend or some time next week. But like u said, im keeping myself to a budget. Ive seen some nice GSX-Ride Smart too, for good prices... Well see, im at work right now, looking at some of them...

Great bikes but you should be able to find it cheaper. I bough my 07 R6 over a year ago for much less with plenty of upgrades.

I'd suggest comming to meet and talking with some of the riders to see what they like/don't like about their bikes.

R6 is not a comfy bike, so I'd sit on other to make sure what feels the best.

I wouldn't go above a 600 for a first bike...IMO.

As Vegas Kid said, I would look for around 3500 max for an R6. You should also consider some 250 cc bikes as well, used for ~ 1500 - 2000. By the time you finish the first year, sell it back (which is fairly easy), you would either break even or lose ~ 100-200 dollars.

Yea, a buddy of mine suggested I go and feel out the bikes before buying one. Ive been to Katy Yamaha (customer service was great) to sit on them, R6 isnt comfy at all but I like the style. Sat on the R1 which felt awesome but im not buying a 1000cc for my first. Sat on the GSX-Ride Smart which felt a bit better IMO comapared to the R6. I went to Wild West Honda but the customer service there was horrible and I didnt get to sit on the CBRs or Ninjas, I didnt want to get yelled at becuase they had signs saying dont touch the bikes...
