oh ok i didnt even know that the battery gave off charge if the car was off! thanks!

All BS aside, yes you can. Most bikes are a 9v system apposed to the 12v of cars. When a car is running it's actually juicing 14.6-15v depending on the alternator specs.

If you have to jump a bike from a car, like mentioned, leave it off. You'll get plenty of juice to jump the bike without damaging the electrical wires.

Correction:
Bikes are 12v systems as well... Also cars charge between 12.5-14.5. To much more and the regulator is bad/bad batt ect .... Your second paragraph is correct though.
