most cars and bike for the last 10yrs prob. has that ABS light that doesn't have a bulb behind it. and when you do have ABS, the ABS light lights up every time at startup

Buyer beware?

He should have known exactly what he purchased.

Maybe the HD acronym ABS actually stands for:

Acquire Bandanas for Safety.

According to the quote from the HD rep:

Quote:
If the icon doesn't light up when you start the bike, anybody should know you don't have ABS.
It sounds like it doesn't actually light up. Most manufacturers do this now. They create 1 guage cluster for all models, and only connect a bulb for models that actually have the ABS. He likely has a little cut out for ABS that probably doesn't have a bulb behind it at all.

Abs icon shouldn't be there if the car doesn't have it. Whether it lights up or not. Trying to save money by not making a seperat cluster plate could bite them in the . I agree the rider is negligent. After all abs, only helps you crash less severely and not not at all. Maybe soon they'll enforce abs on all models like cars just to nip it in the bud. And safety gear should've been on most def.

i disagree w/ alot of what you said.

i think ABS can do alot to avoid accidents. slick road, wheel locks up, abs you can steer while not locking up.

And though the article doesn't specify, it sounds like she may not have been wearing a helmet, which would have saved a lot of this headache.
Guy has lawsuit over brain injury. You talk about being saved from a headache.

HAHAHAHA! Why did nobody else see this?

Clearly the outriggers are making the bikes lose control
