06-07 R6 rpm questions

I have a 06 r6 with a busted cluster and just bought another one from a 2007.(as i was told) Might be 08-09 (IDK). the 2006 cluster redlined rpm is 20k and the 2007 is only 18k. Maybe im wrong.. or maybe im right. If im right im wondering why did they change it up a year after the 3rd gen was released to a lower rpm ? Clusters are exactly the same.. except rpm.. Random but i was just wondering.

Um what difference does it make. That bike won't rev past 16k. Dont worry about it

When that Gen R6 came out they hyped it as the first production bike to have a rev limit of 20,000 rpm...

Turns out on independent dyno testing it could only go up to 17,500 rpm.

So the subsequent years to put on an accurate tach. The 20,000 was marketing hype.
