While not a real fan of Walmart, I must say, when things get rough, there hours of operation do seem to come in handy. I hate Walmart...

Your average is only a year?!?! My original battery is still kicking strong after 43,000 miles over 5 1/2 years. I'd be if a battery only lasted 12 months.

On busas theyd die in a year.
Maybe my 10 battery died so soon due to its size
I also run an alarm, constant drain cant be good for it

I've never had a bike battery go more than 18 or so months. Even if I barely ride. What's the name brand of these 5+ year olds? I want one!!!
You can get bike batteries at any of the automotive shops like Advance, O'Reily, Auto Zone. All in the $65 to $90 range. No doubt sponsors have them. I did get my last two at Wal-Wart. Work just fine.

My Yuasa came with my bike I bought almost 5 years ago.
It's possible this same battery came with the bike from the factory in 2002.

Just a trickle charge now and then and still going strong.

"Barely riding" is what kills them. If you ride them more often, the batteries last longer.... Keep them charged, dont let them go real low, then have to charge them back up....If you do that, they wont last...

get a $50 battery tender and keep the bikes on them if youre not gonna ride them for 2-3 wks...

I also have had pretty good luck with Walmart batteries..... Maybe not 5 years but atleast a solid 2-3 years.

A lot has to do with how the battery is prepped/charged before its put into service for the 1st time.
