Bike Insurance

In Florida, I only paid $500 a year for full coverage, with 500 deductible on my 06 GSX-R1000. After getting off the phone with a State Farm rep (here in Spring), I was told it would be $1000 a year since Harris County has the highest un-insured motorist ratio, but if I was to live in Montgomery County, then it would be cheaper. Is this true?

<$100 a year for liability.

Sounds like you need to shop around a lot more - there are a lot of insurance companies that may give you better rates, especially if you're over 25, married, good driving record, own a home, etc...

Apples to oranges. My '85 'Hawk in the garage costs next to nothing to insure. Why spend $$ on full coverage when I barely paid anything for the bike to begin with?

it sucks that we (the people who actually have insurance) get screwed because there are so many hats that drive without ins....I use State Farm...My 07 GSXR 6 was ~600/year for full coverage...My SV 1K is only about 300/year for full coverage...My opinion is, if you don't drive with comp/collision, you are taking a risk with losing your bike everytime you go out...There are a ton of hit and run threads (under insured), stolen bikes ( outta luck, liability only)...Good luck finding a good price.

I agreed with everyone. It cost more because the bike sis a 1000cc. I am over forty so age and good driving record doesn't mean anything. I will try to see if it is cheaper with muti vehicles discount.

Man, My SV650s is like 350 a year... and I even have the multiline discount! I am 25... with a good driving record... but not married. That is strange that your SV1000 is cheaper than my 650.. they are right around the same year model as well 2005 vs. 2006.
