Reserve Fuel

About how far do you think I could go on my reserve fuel? I have a 04 Shadow Sabre 1100.

it's usually .9 of 1 gallon but Im sure you could google how big your reserve is. That being said I'm sure you've done the math to figure out how many MPG your bike gets. Should be anywhere from 35mpg to 55. There you go.

So I'd say it could get you at least 30 miles.

thats what i figured as well. I am in a strange situation. I have lots of money right now. Just not on me and not in my bank. So until I can remedy this I am on the reserve tank.

yours is a .6 gallon tank. you get about 45 miles to the gallon (low is 44 high is 48 average) so, at 45 mpg you'd go 27 miles.

Depends on how you have your rear suspension set, and whether or not your running stock exhaust/jetting. I have an '03 Sabre, rear shocks set to 4. We have 4.2 gallon tanks. With aftermarket exhaust and jetting, I get 38-40 mpg and hit my reserve around 125 miles, so that leaves .9-1 gallon left. With my rear shocks set to 2, I didn't hit reserve until almost 140 miles, so that leaves around .5 gal in the tank.

are you saying the rear susp. effects mileage, is that due to bike squatting w/ a softer suspension?

Rear suspension preload adjustments change the angle of the bike, and noticeably so. It doesn't change the mileage, but it does change the fuel level in the tank. Softer suspension setup is lower in the back, and as a result the fuel level stays deeper in the back of the tank longer. Stiffening the rear suspension pushes everything forward, and the fuel drops below the main fuel tube faster, and as a result, you switch to reserve sooner.
