If you aren't going to race it, why not get some street rubber for your existing wheels?

What are the stock wheels?
Are you going to race cmra or tmgp?

I have heard 17s for cmra and 12s for tmgp if you can afford it. Me I have 16s on my xr100 cause that was the cheapest route.

Find another 17 inch hoop for rear would likely be cheapest. Are you planning to sleeve down motor? I am assuming its a 2 stroke.

You need to look into maximum displacement rules for tmgp. I seem to recall its 72cc meaning you got to sleeve.motor down to meet the rules.

I just looked at the rules, and i believe my bike qualifies for motard class, and unlimited class.

Well then get yourself a rear hoop and start there. It truly is a blast.

I posted direct links to two of the best sites on the net for the information you seek and you want "local" input? The mini scene is weak around here. Good luck finding the info you seek, I'm outta here!

If you want 12's.....

Go to http://www.radmfg.com/ I have the cacr 12x2.15 on my klx, there nice rims and there only 119 each

then call http://www.buchananspokes.net/ and get some HD spokes made

check with chad(themagicman) he can lace them and possibly get you a deal on the spokes

even though your on a budget i wouldnt spend to much since the bike is only legal to run a couple sprint classes

I should point out that the top finisher on a CR85 based machine runs 17" NSR125 gp rims. A few years back ace electric ran a RS125 with 65 motor and finished podiums on 17's. So, even though 12" may seem like a good choice, consider that your front stock rim will work with a front GP takeoff and a front rim laced in back the same. You are looking at more like $200 for the hub spokes and rims on ebay, not $600, and you can swap rear wheels and the front tire and quickly convert to dirt. GP takeoffs are available from CMRA / WERA guys for cheap or free.

My firsthand experience is that it matters less what wheels and tires you have, and much more how you ride it. There are stock XR100's out there with 16" street tires walking away from 65's. Edit...Rob has run my stock CRF150F with 16 / 19 street tires and he passed me on our built 65 with 12's. The little bikes just tire me out...

If you only want to race 2 classes, plus a Sunday practice, you shouldn't spend much money on it. The 85 is a great choice for comfort alone.

Mr. P thanks for the lengthy reply. Yoir.absolutely right i dont want to.spend.a ton of money to just run 2 classes. So let me get this straight. Are you saying my best bet is to buy another front rim assembly off of another kx80 and mount a 125 gp tire on front and back?? What size tires am i going to be running on front and back?? Thanks for your help. See now im getting somewhere...lol
