I have the 4 cell and got a dead cell and luckily got a replacement. Customer service is though. They basically tell you to shove it and buy a new battery.

what is the advantage to having a battery like that over the conventional OEM type Bat-ray?

OR just take a solid dump, and lose the same amount of weight?

No probs with my Shorai yet.. saved 10 lbs off the wet one, and this is a 12 cell.

They also don't need a trickle charger, and usually provide more cranking amps.

I see a lot of people going for the 8-cell when you really need a 12 for a liter bike or larger on the street.

You mean Neverstart? I've never had one last any significant period of time, they are right up there with Duracrap imo. But each to their own.

I was going to buy a ballistic 8-cell, now I'm paranoid. My stock battery is still going strong! That might change once it comes out of the shop, hasn't been run in a week...

Guess it depends on the brand; I had to add foam to all four sides of my battery box to get a tight fit.

OK, I went back and found the notes on mine; not sure how many "cells" it is..

Model is LFX18A1-BS12

http://www.twfracing.com/PartsPages/shorai.html

They said they have run the LFX14 in 1000cc inline 4's, but recommend the 18 for street use

Specs are here:

http://www.shoraipower.com/downloads/lfxspecs.pdf

Main thing is to verify it will fit, and the CCA are equal or greater than the stock one.

Haven't had a problem with mine so far. I do hear you need their special charger (80 somethin bucks) to make sure that all cells charge evenly and fully. Apparently only a once or twice a month thing. I got the 8 cell for my bike and built a new aluminum box, dropped 14 pounds off the backbone of the bike.
