I cleared a path in my garage to my bike, so no matter the temp ill be there on it. for those not used to the cold, layers are key. but really only your hands and legs will be cold

Cold weather Riding:

Leather will cut down on alot of the wind shake, meaning it will take longer for the cold to penetrate the material.

Dont go from one extreme to another immediately; stand outside, let the temperature slowly cool you off so the difference is not too harsh when you start riding. When the body gets cold it will only take longer to adjust to the point you can control the shake.

Gloves: prevent sweating by layering too much; instead try latex to prevent air intrusion into the skin. Moisture= colder when riding in the cold.

Breath temperature: cover your mouth to raise the temperature of the air you're breathing. Even 5 deg difference will keep you alot warmer and require deeper breaths, more of a cardio workout and the body to work harder, burn more calories and keep your system working harder.

Do not tighten up but keep your appendeges moving; move your fingers, move your toes, flex the muscles in your legs on/off. This will require more blood flow through the body and produce more heat. Tightening up will effect your ability to handle the bike too.

It may feel good to put your hand next to the engine when riding but you'll be colder when you put it back up on the controls... consider that.

As for glove choices, some of the guys get weather mittens from Walmart to ride in the winter. they dont allow any windflow, inexpensive, the fingers are close together to create more heat. Keep in mind they are more bulky and you cannot two-finger.

Built in insulation is a joke. Yes the heart has to work harder but more surface area doesnt help, hinders. Denser, more muscle helps.

Just some tips to try.
