Scorpion Helmets

I started riding in April. Before I bought a bike, I researched a ton of helmets, went to bike shops and tried on a ton of different brands. My Scorpion helmet fit my budget and I liked the way it fit. I bought two EXO-400's. One for my wife and I. A couple of months of riding, I just wanted to try something else. So I tried an Icon Alliance. I couldn't get myself a new helmet without getting one for the wife so I got two. What I immediately noticed was the inconsistant construction of the helmets. Both Icons were the same model and size, but one felt harder(like the padding was thinner at the top of the head), and the visor was a lot notchier. I kinda liked the way one felt, but they were both heavier than the Scorpion. I sold my Scorpion to my brother-in-law(his son needed one). I rocked the Icons, switching back and forth between them. So one day I tried on my wife's Scorpion. Felt amazing. I immediatley ordered a Scorpion EXO-400. Got it today. Amazing. I love it. Can't beat the value. I have tried on Shoei's and Arai's, and while they feel awesome, fit great, are lightweight, they are just too expensive. I'd say they are 20% better than the Scorpion at 200-300% the price. Scorpions rock.

I liked my old HJC, but its padding and visor mechanism don't hold a candle to my Shoei RF-1100. The venting, and wuality of the vents on the Shoei are much better, too. Plus the aerodynamics.

But, I paid $250 more for the Shoei, so it better do all of those things!

My first helmet was and is still a scorpion exo-1000. It is a bit heavier compared to other helmets but it does the job pretty well. It vents adequately but in exchange wind noise is a bit loud.
The inflatable padding is also a plus because it gives you a tight fitment.

The only thing I wish I noticed before I bought it is that it is snell certified from 2005. I think the requirements changed a lot in 2010 so I should have waited.

All in all its a great helmet but will probably go with shoei next.

I have worn Shoei, Arai, and Scorpion. I totaled my last bike in a scorpion exo-700 and went down at about 75-80 flipped and went over a median before landing and the first thing that hit the pavement was the back of my head. I now have a exo-750 and will never buy a helmet other than scorpion.

I got my super bright EXO-700 about a year ago. and I love it. it's heavier than the Racier brands, but affordable and comfy.

i plan on keeping this helmet for a while.

Yeah, they get heavier in the larger sizes. I rock a small, so the weight is managable, but they are lighter than Icons.

I've had an exo400 and 700. really liked them, especially for the price. need a get another for a backup.

I must say, for less than $300, I am really digging my HJC RPS-10.

I really like my EXO-700 or is it 750....

A bit loud but other than that, its well worth the savings. Only issue I'm having is the helmet isn't snug enough for my head shape. I'm stuck between M and L but the Medium puts pressure on my temples so I'm stuck wearing a slightly snug Large.

Anybody else run into this problem?
