this is true, but haven't heard of anyone getting held up at gun point at the biggest bike get together in Houston, that takes some , and they must have been pretty desperate.

i don't know about this but i was in New Orleans about a month before Kartina and it was pretty ruff looking in the outskirts. bares a striking resemblence to the Downtown H-Town of today. just my opinion though

criminals usually do get desperate around the holidays.
Gotta steal to support the habit AND get junior gifts.
Too bad its people who work for their property that get burned.
Warning, its time to pay more attention to your surroundings , people.
You never know when that crack-head is going to pick you as their target.

I was born and raised in Houston, actually about 5 min from ASI. And I went to school and played football at Tulane in the heart of uptown New Orleans. New Orleans was the murder capital in the world for a reason. But its still not cause for all of our crime problems here in Houston. I grew up around people right here in Houston that were just as desparate, and pretty much down to do just about anything for that mighty dollar. Especially something they feel is easy to flip like a bike. Don't want to get political though. I think the best answer that was previously mentioned is staying with a pack of riders. They won't be as quick to try to jack you, because there are too many unkowns.

New Orleans is far from the murder capital of the world!
Countries like Honduras, South Africa, Swaziland, Colombia, El. Salvador, Venezuela and Bolivia (just to name a few) have us in a head lock :confused1
, as of 2005, Maryland had just as many murders as Louisiana did
Houston has more murders per year than New Orleans. Denser population..
I'm not saying these guys are from New Orleans, but I'm not saying they were not either. Its just easy to say.. well.. those criminals are not our criminals

Officials like to say the rise in crime is due ONLY to the Katrina evacuees. I believe other wise. Sure part of the problem is to a few lingering "flood rats" but not all of it. They wont blame it on the poor economy, or a poor job market, lets point the finger at New Orleans.. its not our fault.. pssh.. Non sense!
