I actually found that I could hear the bike and surrounding traffic better with the plugs in. The plugs helped eliminate the higher range drone of the exhaust and the wind noise.

I haven't ridden without plugs for a while now, but on the track I have zero issue hearing the bike or bikes around me.

use silicone ear plugs.. roll them into a ball and mush them into your ear. they work great and they form to your ear every time..

They are cheap too same price as the foam ones.

if your a type with smaller ear canal order these

http://www.envirosafetyproducts.com/...-uncorded.html

they have corded and uncorded for both. The websight is having problems today (could be on my end too) but I got my second order in for them (wife likes the green "Light" and I like the "Max")

$25 for 200 pair to your door (individually packaged)

Both my orders have been recieved in a week.

If you're wearing plugs and need to look at the gauges to shift, you're doing it wrong.

You only get what 5 senses.

Hearing, sight, touch, taste and smell.

Why loose any of these. I already did, thats why I try to help people not make the same mistake as me.

If you want the best of both worlds you should look into musician ear plugs. A doctor takes a cast of your ear cannal and you get a custom set. The decibals are lessened, however the range of hearing remains the same. Thus you hear everything clearly just a lot softer.

did you see the part about pulling on the outer ear, so the ear canal is kinda straight?

I went out on the track without my earplugs for the first time in a while, I will not do that again. I find that I can concentrate more on my riding when the engine noise and exhaust tone is lessened. I try to stay tucked under the screen as much as possible and by doing so the sound levels are almost unbearable now. I guess I am spoiled now.

I would never pay big $$$ for earplugs or glasses. Both get lost far to quickly.

Was that reply for me?

what I was trying to communicate is I would not buy expensive earplugs, only hte disposable ones.

A box of 200 should last me a year or two.

Sun glasses are the same. I buy the $3 ones form academy by the handfull.

Read the whole thread, notice I posted the info about ordering the Howard Leight box of 200...

thats not even close to the logic.....
