Suzuki has only been dominant in the US race series. On the world stage, Ducati, Honda then Yamaha are the dominant manufacturers. Ducati raking a whopping 288 wins since WSB started in 1988. Suzuki only clock in with 26 wins behind Kawasak, which kinda stings no matter how you look at it. Great road bike though. Didn't really care for that bat wing headlight design they had for the last few years.

That's race wins, not podiums.

Not true.. My fiance has a Suzuki Marader 800.. Chrome is still chrome. Bike is solid. Starts all the time... And the people I know with the M109 love it. It's a 2003. Pretty much the c50 Bldv. Only thing I see cosmetically problematic is the handle bar control mounts. Other than that the bike is Nice.

Factory chrome is generally done on the cheap anyway. Not cost effective to do the proper triple plating. It's still chrome and it's still shiny, just not as hardy as the aftermarket stuff. They have to work within a budget after all.

IT would be priced out of the SV's current market yes. Would it be competing with Ducati... I am hesitant to say it would. I think it would still be in a niche market since it is a smaller displacement V-twin and is a favorite in the lightweight twin racing done in Britain and I could be wrong but it qualifies as lightweight here as well?

Was on a ride to Navasota one day and the predominate brand was Moto Guzzi and Suzuki. There is no accounting for good taste.

Too bad those "fancy" bikes had problems on the last two group rides, while those Suxzukis didn't...

old data,

Top brands in 2003, the latest available market-share data, according to the MIC: Honda, with 27.4% of sales; Harley-Davidson, 23.7%; Yamaha, 17.4%; Suzuki, 10.8%; and Kawasaki, 8.7%.

but i would bet the #'s haven't changed much since.

This is like the endless contest! If you prefer Honda... ride Honda, If you prefer Suzuki... Ride Suzuki... etc. I honestly have loyalty to the SV not really to Suzuki. Each brand has something that appeals to you in some way or another even if you don't admit it.
