Could it be because of the popularity of the "OCC Chopper" craze.
Bigger motors and no helmet and older riders who only ride on the weekend is a recipe for an accident.

I was suprised by this too, hopwever, refer to chart #8....every age bracket owns up to about the same percentage of fatalities regardless of how many people own the bikes.
