the whole thing is just definition issues to me. Yes, it doesn't have gear box, yes, it is wet shaft drive, and the seating position just make it have "scooter" written all over. But, hey, if u put the same setup on a larger engine, and throw CVT on it, u get what? VFR1200 and FJR1300. And should those be called scooter also?

I don't know, big deal having a scooter in the US. Funny thing is that everytime the scooter topic is brought up, it always gets dogged at. That just dumb.

And people think scooter is too gay and slow, try this. I don't even know how to call that thing anymore

Motorcycles are one of the most affordable forms of motorised transport in many parts of the world and, for most of the world's population, they are also the most common type of motor vehicle. [3][4][5] There are around 200 million motorcycles (including mopeds, motor scooters, motorised bicycles, and other powered two and three-wheelers) in use worldwide, [6] or about 33 motorcycles per 1000 people.
No our is not a sport bike but it falls under the definition of a motor cycle

it's not, but why is it a big deal that when it's called bike, it has to be corrected, while cruisers and bicycles don't have to.
I mean, it is a bike, too, isn't it?

anyways, this is getting pointless. The ones that have negative inputs about scooters would always do. Not gonna waste anymore of my time.

Thanks again for spending time looking at the pix.

Glenn, I am still waiting on that photoshooting trip. Post it, I'll be there..
(well most likely)

man there is nothing wrong with scooters...... i ride scooters all the times when i visit Taiwan, they are a lot of fun and saves you a lot of time trying to find a parking spot in a crowded city like Taipei. Yes, scooters are slower compared to modern sportbikes but speed was not a top priority when they designed and engineered most scooters anyways! I believe we live in a country where people are free to choose what they like and enjoy riding.... and what's wrong with feeling a little pride of one's toys even if it is a scooter or a go kart? does it mean they are not allowed to post pics and share it with a motorcycle forum? IMO saying that people that ride scooters are gay is more gay than anything else! Now enough of the negative comments here and let the kid enjoy his scooter just like we enjoy our motorcycles!

I just called Masimo de Laquirmo of the Universal Scooter Association (www.UNSCA.org 1-888-go-scoot) to find out if there is an actual "world wide" controversy over calling scooters bikes or is it more locally confined. Seems as though he was actually a little bit offended that some people want to have their scooters fall into the same hum-drum ranking as a common sport bike.
Me: "Seems like these guy are arguing like school girls over a Gucci look-a-like lipstick case."
Masimo: "Yes, they [scooter riders] need to grow up a little and be leaders. Scooters are at a unique level in the world of transportation far above average recreational type two wheel vehicles and for a scooter rider to degrade their qualifications to that of a common 'streetbike' is quite disheartening. Would you call your wife or girlfriend a prostitute?"

I say - Well said Masimo!!!

So there your have it. Right from the top. Scooters are not bikes and would never stoop that low.
