All are true 4 wheel drives. The difference comes in how you make it that way.
For example, with a Polaris you could be stuck in the mud and hit the button and "boom" your in 4 wheel drive. I believe Honda is the same way. Now the Kawi on the other hand, and I think the biggest downfall, you have to be rolling to engage 4wd. Now still only three wheels will pull. There is a small yellow lever over the left grip which is used as a locker. Pull it and all 4 tires pull.

It was smart why they did it but sometimes kinda sucks when you dont gauge the hole right. If anyone cares the reason they did it was so that you didn't engage 4wd when ever the cv was at an awkward angle in the front end and tear it apart.

I could be wrong about the honda part though. You may have to buy an locker to get all 4 wheels to pull.

There is always Artic cat. Forgot to mention that earlier.

if ur just using it for trail rides and occasionally get in some mud any 4wheeler will be fine but like most ppl said the honda is the most reliable imo, most problems occur when u start going in deep water/mud holes

All are shift on the fly but not under load and will also engage in 4x4 while at a stop, Just kawasaki will not engage until your under a certain speed and is recommended to be at a stop in neutral. Polaris, Yamaha, Artic Cat, and Kawasaki have a diff lock. Honda on the other hand still doesn't come with one but Detroit makes a locker if you want to spend the money.

They have a reverse override... Plus a dynatek gives you full power in reverse. I'll ride a cat all day long before a Honda.

Diff lock is all 4 wheel are locked true, no slippage. Harder to turn, only use when stuck. I ride all the time at the mud parks. See all the cool, different ATVs. You will want Independent Rear suspension, its a must. Your gonna be limited in the $4k range. Just look for low hrs and miles. Look for caked on mud on the exhaust, discolored engine from mud. I have four 4 wheelers and a side by side. Ive owned Yamaha, Polaris, and Arctic Cat. Suzuki parts are expensive. Hondas run great, but not good in deep mud and just came out with IRS. Arctic cats are Arctic Craps. Yamaha and Polaris are the way to go. You wont even be in the price range for a Can Am, they are very proud.

If you want a good all around 4 wheeler, find a used Grizzly 660. I may be selling mine soon but not fully decided yet. I do have a Kodiak 450 and Grizzly 660. You dont want to buy East Texas, from this area into La and up to Dallas. Look west. Look for all stock. Some guys pull all their mods off also. You have to really know what your looking at. Although I agree with you on the Yamaha. Your older Polaris may fit your last statement. The new Polaris Razors, Rangers and Sportsmans are dominating the ATV mud park scene right now. Ask me I know.

I agree with what is said above.....find you a grizzly or sportsman off some old mans hunting lease. Usually able to get them pretty cheap if you look out towards like San Antonio, and usually havent been put through the mud like the ones your going to find over this way.

And yeah, nearly everything i saw out at Creekside Sunday was either a sportsman or a rzr with a few others sprinkled in.
