Single Sided Swingarm

I have been reading up on converting one of my SV650S to a single sided swingarm. Any SV riders out there done this? Any suggestions, gotchas to watch out for? Anyone think this is a bad idea? I have been checking out some of the SVRider forums for information and there is some but I am looking for a more hands on perspective.

I wouldn't. But that's me, you'll spend more than the bike is worth most likely. Could also endanger your own life/

I wouldn't either. On an SV I don't see the value of doing it.

Honestly I see these as valid points. Cost is a factor but just think I might have the only SV in Houston with a Single Side Swingarm! POSER POINTS FOR REAL!

On the real though... I like the look of a SSSA but I am not ready to fork over the dough for a Ducati and other V-twins seem to be lacking them as well.

There are multiple threads for 1st Gens with VFR swingarms over on SVR. I'm not sure I've seen a second gen one yet. A little machining and it shouldn't be to bad, if you don't have a concern over cost.

Jason, Yeah I read several for a gen 1. I didn't really run across any for the 2nd Gen. I have to say it would look sweet I think. Comes down to this: Pour money into bragging rights or just take that money and put a down payment on something else I would like trying to ride. Motard, MV Augusta Tail.

Hey Jason you know if the 04+ Sub frame will bolt to the frame of an 03?

I believe so, but then you gotta get an 04 seat and exhaust hanger.

Yes, and as Jason said you'll need an '04 - later seat and cannister mounting bracket / rear footpeg bracket.
The '03 pegs are a bit higher as well so it will shorten your seat to peg distance somewhat as well.

After seeing some pictures and the reading the write up, it looks pretty good. If you have the bucks do it.

Its a Generation 1... but I was drooling. good find!

So far most of the write ups I have read are for a Generation 1... I just posted on SVRider for some more info after I was contact last night with an option. I think that I may be formulating a plan but I need to do the leg work to measure, plan, budget.

Seriously I should be spending this money on getting my track bike ready for next season

But the poser in me is starting to get the best of me.

My fiancee' would say that motorcycles period arent a wise investment

But I think otherwise.

Yeah that would definately be a unique moto in town! The thing is , doing it right and not looking like a hack job outta someones backyard.
Looks like lotta planning in your future .
