Can't get the bike started

:BangHead: my friend just bought a 97 katana 600. looks nice, but the thing wont start. if he leaves it overnight and try to start it wont. the only way it starts is if we push it. does anyone know what might be the problem???? the guy he bought the bike from said he did a tune up and new oil change like a week ago. what could be the problem????:BangHead:

no, I don't think it's the batt all the electrical works fine. sounds like it gets flooded or something like that. I don't know much about bikes. I hear alot good things about Motorcycles Unlimited (Patrick) so I'll tell my friend to take his bike there. thank yall

Yes it turns over, but it won't run. it will start if we push it only. and no it has not sit there for long every other day we start it.:BangHead:

Sounds like the handlebar switch is going bad. When it's in the start position it's probably not allowing voltage to the coils. You can verify it by checking voltage at the coils with the key on and then when you push the start button.
