Title Transfer

1. I bought another bike the other day.
2. I lost the title
3. I had the owner sign a power of attorney.
4. I'm just waiting on a copy of his I.D.

Can someone with experience in these sort of matters tell me if I will be able to get a new title/title transfer without the owner?

Not saying this is the right way but it has worked for me on more than one occasion.

Since you're getting a copy of owner's drivers license you can send a copy of that along with $2 to DOT in Austin for a new title. On bottom of lost title form it has a place for a "mail to" address. Put your address there, title usually comes in about two weeks. Upon receipt you will sign (in owners name) front & back of title and title application form. All three places will match and tax office won't know for the better so new title gets processed in your name.

Since you have power of attorney I believe you can do it in person also. But need to go to regional office and plan on waiting at least two hours. Cost slightly more at $5 but you will walk out with the title instead of waiting on the mail.

Smart. Yeah and the power of attorney isn't notorized or anything, it's basically just his signature on a PA that I printed from the interWeb. This is one of the biggest clusterfucks I've ever been a part of.
