dunno how i feel about vortex. they grip like whoa, but they also destroy boots. i've contemplated taking a file to the pegs in order to dull them down some. i've started referring to vortex pegs as 'cheese graters'.

The Sidi Vortice boots have replaceable soles in anticipation of them getting tore up. I'd rather have them grate into the boots rather than have them slip off.

Not that anyboot is better than another...having said that. I think you just have to have the right boot. My Sidi Vortice boots have plastic in that area where his are damaged. Alpinestars are not the most durable.
