problem with the way most laws are written is that they are open to interpretation, as you know having dealt with that memorial village face. It says "attached to the rear" so yes, doesn't say it HAS TO BE VISIBLE, just the general interpretation of police officers

Guessing that's who got you for yours, because that's who got me for mine. No one else has ever said about inspection to me other than that guy.

I called my friend who is a state inspector in ft bend county and he read out of his book and it states that it has to be "facing the rear of the vehicle." I do see that it clearly says attached to the rear near the license plate on the other post. Moot point I guess

underside of rear tire hugger. inspection guy suggested it, refusing to put it on the swingarm. he says it complies with all requirements.

It should go from the state inspectors hands directly onto the vehicle. "just sayin"
Mine came from the dealership with one, I cut it off the factory fender and put it in my cowl.

To the OP if you want it where they cannot with you about it I would recommend having it mounted to your license plate behind the rear axle on a proper sticker bracket. License plate perpendicular to motorcycle"facing rear" and centered. With license plate Mounted 45-90 degree angle from the ground. With a white license plate light that the lens is not visible from behind and produces enough light to clearly see the entire plate and inspection from 50ft.... Lol that should just about cover getting messed with.. Mine is tucked up under the bike somewhere clearly visible from 50ft as long as im not on the bike. Yes I have been messed with for the location "obstruction of license plate" or some like that. There are a lot of places that will not put inspection sticker on swing arm front end or anyplace that is not visible from the rear.

What he said! ^^^^^^

If you really want to be "by the book" put the factory fender back on.

Inspector handed mine to me to put where I wanted. He did make sure to peel the backing off before he gave it to me and waited while I stuck it to the bike.

How about saving yourself the hassle and potential trouble and using a state inspection plate that places it underneath your plate...problem solved...

actually it's right, because between being cited and your first court appearance the officer can put down whatever the he wants. I agree that it doesn't mean that they are right but I have been cited in the past for things that are not even code violations, which obviously get thrown out in court.
