Rebuilt title?

This guy wants to sell me a bike with a rebuilt title. Under blue bk value of course. Bike looks great and has every after market you could do to it. He says its a cosmetic rebuild. Is there a difference? I know it would hard to resale it but if it rides good and looks good then whats the problem?

Orozco Title Service @ 713 869 8607 was able to change out of state salvage to clear blue TX title for me. You can give them a call if you buy it

I have ran into this situation a couple of times. After giving it a lot of thought, (in my situations), I came to the conclusion that if they wants Blue Book value, then I should get a Blue Title.

So in my opinion, for what it worth, I wouldn't give full book value no matter what it looks or runs like based on the title.

As far as taxes go, Texas Fair Market Value doesn't take rebuilt into account so you will be taxed on the value of a clear title bike.

Figured that on the taxes. I know they want there money. Not going to pay blue bk. Think he wants about $500 less than the lowest blue bk value. Guess I will have the inspect the bike really good. He says there is no bends or breaks.

have a reputable mechanic look at it before you buy. I.E. Patrick at Motorcycles Unlimited. If he doesnt want to or he seems uneasy about it, walk away. There are plenty of bikes that have rebuilt/salvage titles for cosmetic damage, you just have to be very thorough inspecting them.

Bike is by Nasa so might be hard to take it to patrick. Guy says he has been riding it for over 2 years and no problems. Not gonna believe everything he says right of the bat. Seems to be honest so far.

Salvage title bikes can be hard to more sometimes, only $500 less sounds a bit high to me depending on price/parts. If it was worth 5k clean, it would only be worth 3k at most to me, other people may have different opinions.

Look around and personally walk away from a rebuilt title. There are other hundreds of bikes to choose from. you will come across something better. BUT if you really stuck on that bike and have no patience then take it to Motorcycles Unlimited.

My thoughts... i can't see a bike being totaled for a single slide's worth of cosmetic damage. If the prev owner/owners slid it more than once, it's likely there were other things that may have been overlooked or neglected too.

I have seen plenty of bikes that were totaled by insurance over plastic damage only. If the bike seems solid, I wouldn't hesitate at the right price. Know that lenders wont lend on a rebuilt title. Selling it later to cash buyer is your only option. Contact your insurance company and see how they feel about it too. They may not offer full coverage. 500 under KBB is not low enough IMO. I would pay 1000- 1500 less for that title.

Take the bike to Texas Cycle Center on Egret Bay Blvd. Talk to Elson, he is the owner and only mechanic in the shop. He is an old Chinese guy that raced for Yamaha back in the day. He has newspaper clippings framed around the shop . He looks over all my bikes before I purchase.

Doesnt sound bad at all. If you dont want it long it wont be a problem to make it short. If its and arm or extensions, you can sell the parts and cut the chain down.

He says that he bought the bike from a guy that layed it down and claimed it on his insurance. It was inspected by a guy that worked for mancuso and only damage was fairings. Parts replaced were OEM fairings from a guy that turned his bike into a track bike. Steering locks.
