Cool Weather and Tires

50 degrees when I went to work early this AM.
BT-016 front @ 36psi - BT-023 rear @ 42psi.
First ramp recommended speed is 40mph. I entered at 80mph and exited at 91mph.
Second ramp has a double apex, metal expansion joints and recommended speed of 35pmh. Entered and exited at 75mph.
Could have easily gone faster on both ramps, but since I am on a CBR and Bridgestone tires your experience may vary

Just posting it up because some riders are afraid of riding on cold tires

I've ridden like this for over 25,000 miles in less than two years on this bike alone in temps as low as 30

that can mean a of a lot of things... and only a couple of them are good..

advising people that they can easily do 50 mph over the speed limit is not really a good thing no matter the temps.... no matter that we may often do that ourselves... it is just TMI...

what we can do and what we should do are often not the same thing...

I'm not encouraging anything and I did end with this "your experience may vary".

MotoHouston promotes motorcycle riding and riders crash at speeds lower than the posted limit. Should we stop posting all together? Riders crash at the track, should we discourage trackdays?

This is true. Instead of trailering my bike to do a track day, I rode it there. It's not the right thing to do, but I don't always do the right thing and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, nor have I.

it is quite true that MotoHouston promotes riding... I have seen nothing official from MotoHouston that promoted or advocated riding at twice the legal speed limit on any public road. The speeds you said you were doing, were just that... and I think we take too much on ourselves when we relate what we say, do or think to what MotoHouston stands for... and yes folks crash for all kinds of reasons and not all of them are the speed they are traveling at...
I am a little sensitive to the exact situation you described... I lost a good friend and employee this summer... doing just what you described, he was killed on a ramp at 45 and 610... ramps have recommended speed for a reason..

Uh, twice the legal speed limit on the highways I was on would be 120 mph. The posted recommended speed for turns is not the speed limit plus that recommendation applies to a loaded 18 wheeler as well. What I was doing was well below the capabilities of a hyper sport.

Sorry you lost a friend on a ramp. We’ve lost friends on 3090 but we still post rides and videos of it.

WARNING....FOR YOR OWN SAFETY DO NOT RIDE LIKE I DO OR FOR THAT MATTER...AT ALL

No, not even close. I have scrapped a toe on the double apex ramp before, but not today and I do have toe sliders
