TWS (Texas World Speedway) Lap Time Progression

Since my season is basically done, I thought I'd go back and see where I started, where I'm at and where I want to be.

Starting out 2010 with a new (to me) bike and having not done any trackdays for a quite a few years, I set a goal of getting < 2:00:00, but thinking 2:05's would have been more reasonable by the end of 2010. WRONG!

<some missing data was in the 2:14 - 2:16 range IIRC>
06/05/2010 2:12:51
06/06/2010 2:11.15
07/17/2010 2:11:57
07/18/2010 2:11:25

A little progress, but progress none-the-less.

2011, the goal again was < 2:00:00 and if I was able to do that consistently, then I'd take the CMRA licensing class.

04/01/2011 2:08:30
05/14/2011 2:09:41 <-- 1 step back
05/15/2011 2:03:75 < -- 2 steps forward!
06/18/2011 2:02:36
07/02/2011 1:59:92 <-- was a happy day!

Revised goal to < 1:55:00

10/01/2011 1:57:11
10/02/2011 1:59:53
10/21/2011 1:57:84

Took the CMRA class on 10/21. 2011 was fun!

My best session of 2k11.

Nice job Arturo. I LOL'd the "<--- was a happy day " comment. I remember when all I wanted to do was run a sub 2:00 before my 2 track buddies did. One of em beat me to :59 and I

Thanks!

Yeah.. seems like I was obsessed with getting to <2min.. and riding with a friend we both wanted to get their first. He kept beating me to all the milestones. First to 2:10, then 2:08, then 2:05, but then he seemed to hit a mental wall.

VICTORY FOR ME!

The funny thing about that <2min day is that I don't look at my lap times while out on the track. I try to work on a few things, take a mental note if it felt better/worse and then compare what I felt to the lap times back in the pit. That was the last session of the day, I had done 2:00s and 2:01s and thought I should try to increase corner speed in 3, 4, and 6 which I'd been taking in 2nd. So I tried 3rd gear in those turns and it felt so slow that I didn't even bother to check my times when I got to the pit. It wasn't until I was halfway finished packing all my stuff that I bothered to check my times and then was all

The whole drive home was like this:

For me it was all over. A big chunk was Turn 1.. staying on the gas longer. another big chunk was staying on the gas all the way up until turn 5. And progressively getting better drives out of the chicane onto the main straight. Gained 10mph at the end of the straight over the course of the year.

Still quite a lot of time to be made up in a lot of places where i'm not getting to full throttle. Or even where I am, I could probably do it earlier.

So whats the story in T4 then? I lsitened to the fast SV guys and stayed in the throttle into T1 and therefore ended up hitting T3 in a higher gear and getting much better drive but I cant seem to get my testicles to cooperate in T4 and give a bulk of it back.
I know i can do better in the chicanes but cant get it to click. All advice welcome.

Thanks! You weren't in the way. I did get a little closer to you than I wanted and missed a downshift though.

Thanks man. Looking forward to mixing it up with some people out there.

I wasn't planning on racing at MSRH. I was hoping to get the Prov Nov corner working duties out of the way that weekend and then try to race all the remaining rounds. But now i'm thinking I want to race.

I've never ridden MSRH, so i'm going to try to make either Whoopies, or Ride Smart's trackdays.

You racing Feb?
