Hey guys.

Whats up MotoHouston? Friend of mine refered me to this website becasue I'm interested in getting a bike here in the near future. Been looking at a 2012 FZ6R and a Ninja 650. Leaning more twords the Yamaha becasue from what I've gathered its a great beginer bike, and its not a 250cc engine so when I've been riding for a while I won't be hungry for something bigger. If anyone has any input please feel free to post. So yeah, jsut wanted to say whats up, and if y'all have any questions hit me up.

I live in Humble, born and raised. Not much to do around here (Other than work) so I'm really looking forward to getting a bike lol. Where does everyone else stay at? If anyone lives close when I get my bike we should ride :P

I live in Sugar Land, but I work in Houston. Whenever you get your bike, ill be more than happy to go on a ride with you. Shoot me a message whenever, brah.

You should also look into completing an MSF course, this is required to get your class M license.

welcome! like josh said, take an msf basic riders course. i'd recommend buying gear before a bike, so you dont end up blowing all your money on a bike and scrape together cheap/uncomfortable/low quality gear. also get a used bike so if you drop it, it wont be as painful

We have a classified sector in our forum as well, I have purchased 2 bikes from here just this year.

http://www.motohouston.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=60

Also we have sponsors that sell bikes, Motorcycles Unlimited and JAR Motor Sales are just a couple of people that are known here. There are many more...

and like what yumbeef stated, Make sure you invest in some good gear.

Cool , looks like Yamaha is having a promotion where you buy a new bike and finace it you get $1000 in customer bucks or some BS. Sounds like free gear to me lolol.
Thanks, its a Futurama reference :P

Welcome,

I'd stay away from a brand new bike especially since it will be your first. Would recommend picking up an SV or if you want a 600 SS then an R6/CBR. Plenty for sale on this board and others. Can get something really nice for under $5000.

Reason I'd go used is you don't know what you'll like in 6 months time. You may end up hating SS bikes and go for a tard or a cruiser. No point in spending $10K + insurance for something that may sit in the garage after a year.

What color are you planning to get? Some guys here have seen mine.
I have a 2011 FZ6R Copper/Raven. It's a very nice bike, it has a very smooth powerband that will make it easy for you to handle. It was also my first bike. If you are buying new, first thing I'd add are frame sliders.
If you also join the FZ6R forum there's a ton of guys that will tell you more about the bike. Hey, we might some day even meet on a ride organized here.

Ooo copper/raven? Do you have any pictures on your profile? I was looking at getting it black/raven. Plan on going up to K's offa 59 up here next weekend to check em out in person, I've been watching videos and reading reviews all week long and im pretty sure that its the bike ima get. I wouldnt mind going used on my first bike, im just seems kinda scetchy to me (I know, its wierd lol) but if I buy it new, all new parts, and it'll make me be a little bit more carfull with it you know?
