Nope - it isnt. Guy is pretty up front about it to - says it is just for track or stunt.

You can buy frames without a VIN all day long.

Yes but from the pic, the vin has been removed. Not, it was a unstamped frame.

actually a motor vehicle MUST have a legible Vehicle Identification Number, the only exception is that it is a home made vehicle and if you title and register it DPS/DOT/DMV will assign a number. it is illegal to remove a VIN and sell for anyother purpose but scrap, and is punishable by law. so yep its a stolen bike even if he didn't steal it the guy is a thief facilitator

No major motorcycle company makes blank frames. Thats that. If you want to buy a frame from a major company they require you to turn in the damaged one with vin intact. They will then reissue a new frame with a new vin.

However, aftermarket companies do and they do so for the very reason stated in the ad - track use only. A bike you're never intending to drive on the street need not be registered, and as such, needs no VIN on the frame.

I agree - if the guy scraped the VIN, that's illegal and obviously a stolen part. If it is a frame cast without one though...perfectly legal.

That's if you register it to drive on public roads. Something which will not be registered need not have a vin (or a tag for that matter).

You can buy frames from custom manufacturers all day long that have no VIN. They exist for those wishing to build a custom machine.

You can also make your own frame if you are inclined and skilled.

Federal and most state law prohibit the alteration or removal of a VIN number from a vehicle or parts of a vehicle.

A motorcycle frame with the VIN removed is quite different than one that has never had a VIN number assigned.

Honors daddy, you are correct but judging by the picture that is a stock frame.
I have been around bikes for a loong time and there are only a handful of frame mfr's. None of them make frames that look like a stock frame.
Partly because you aren't gonna make a better frame than Yamaha, Suzuki, etc.
Partly because the methods they use are not suitable for niche producers of a small number of frames.

On the surface it looks like that guy is dealing stolen parts. On the other hand he has 80 somethin' positive feedback responses over the last 12 months.
Who knows?
I wouldn't buy a Rolex from him. Caveat Emptor

you did read the part about title and register? and most states require a ID number on all motor vehicle frames regardless of intended use. also my friend that has a license to make repair and sell motor vehicles says that even custom frames that are for"track use only" tells me that it still must have an ID number on the frame strictly for ID purposes according to texas law. but its no big deal the police can confiscate any MV that you can't prove belongs to you so its all good
