They look good but it is alot of work. I did my own on my R6 and everyone that saw it thought it was chrome. But you have to to be religous about keeping it clean. Even just water spots will make it look like in a matter of minutes. The wheels are even more work due to the chain lube and brake dust.
Chrome on the other hand looks good but even if done by someone with lots of experience will flake after some time due to the chrome being a different metal it will not cool at the same rate as the alluminum does and the constant vibration and or abuse depending on your riding style will have it flaking off before ya know it.

I just got this stuff for it. I know its going to take a while to do it. Wanted to get some opinions on it. I am taking in tomorrow and leaving it at the shop to get the new undertail on it

My buddy polished his and it took him a week. But, he did a crappy job and didnt even take all the fairings off. It could be done alot better.

do you know how many 98 R1's are even left rolling in this world. Not very many at all. I would say less than 100. that is a classic Yamaha production bike. The best of its generation. Don't go fuggin it up with some bullshit polishing .

everything on my old bike is chrome except for the frame which was polished. u just gotta keep it clean and throw some polish on it from time to time.

it's YOUR bike. . .do what YOU want. I think polished frames look awesome on the older yamaha's, but it requires a lot of maintenance. If you get it polished, have the polisher apply zoop seal when he finishes.
