http://www.chron.com/news/houston-te...se-2215971.php

i REALLY don't need to be hassled if i get a pipe.
how much would the stock exhaust restrict any benefits from mods like a cam and pc?

anyone else having 2nd thoughts on an atermkt pipe?

you don't want to make your bike run better and be faster and lighter (some feel safer. other motorists can actually hear you next to them, in their blind spot) with an aftermarket, free flowing exhaust? this IS a sportbike forum . many of us do

I believe akra has an EPA noise reg compliant can available. Have your cake and avoid being ticketed for it.

Edit to my earlier post. It isn't akra, it is yosh making that can.

Also, my little baby monster puts out 92 db at roughly 4500 rpm according to google. This ordinance could be the new tool for pulling over a suspicious looking biker.

UNWANTED LIST
Top 13 noise complaints (in no specific order):

1. Barking dogs
2. Car music
3. Music from apartments and houses
4. Motorcycles
5. Landscaping and yard equipment
6. Bar music
7. Outdoor events/backyard parties
8. Construction
9. Air conditioning units
10. Apartment issues: Hitting walls/jumping on floors
11. Trash collection
12. Bass sounds
13. Vibrations

Source: Houston Department of Administration & Regulatory Affairs
but none the less. Number 13 also seems too weird! "vibrations"?? How that can be a loud noise? I think the worst is numbers two, three and eight..

Proves the point holtsclaw was trying to make about bikes, #4 on the list, yet so many on here think it's only a few people. It's gotta be thousands of complaints to make #4

while I understand the point you are trying to make... the ordinances cities pass are not for us, they are for John Q. Public...
and from Mr. Public's point of view, our bikes as they come off the show room floor run just fine, they are light enough, they put out enough HP and have enough speed to exceed any legal limits anywhere in this state... so Mr. Public and his elected officials are not too concerned with what we the bikers want... they think their wants, and they are the majority, have priority over our wants...

Wednesday's action does not change the legal levels of acceptable noise - 75 decibels with a permit and 65 without. Nor does it change the practice of using sound meters to support charges of exceeding those levels.

The city, however, cannot afford enough $800-to-$2,500 sound meters to investigate all complaints, according to the Department of Administration and Regulatory Affairs

I wonder how your ticket would end up without a reading from a sound meter? IWould it Probally be dismissed?

get pulled over for suspected noise violation, wait for cop to call in a unit/backup with a meter. waste more time.
