Any officer I have ever been in contact with has always been extremely professional, concise, situation-appropriate and considerate (though Tx State Troopers tend to be extremely concise, emotion-free and very serious). Most have been downright friendly. In cars, I've been warned more than I've been ticketed. Honestly, only one stopped my in error, and though embarrassed, had to jab me unnecessarily with "drive more carefully".

I've found over the years that you don't get stopped just for the heck of it; there is probably some reason they go to the trouble of attempting the stop. With the number of nuts who already profess they will run from the cops, why would they want to create a possible hazard for nothing?

Being polite, responsive, non-challenging during a stop is the smartest way to handle being "temporarily arrested". If they are looking for information only, and you run away, you've just created a 'reasonably suspicious' and dangerous situation.

I doubt there is one anti-bike harassing cop just looking to annoy anyone...
