title transfer ?

so we sold a car back in march. well, we just recieved tag registration paperwork. so it makes me wonder if the title has really been transfered to the buyer's name. we have a bill of sale, but thats really about it.

is there any way to check?

Just did this on a bike, if you have the Vin number still they can look it up at the Tax office to see if the guy changed the title, but you should be able to check to see if the buyer ever filled out the paperwork for the change as well

When you sold the car there was a small slip attached to the top of the title. It should have been filled in by you and mailed to the state at that time.

Since you probably no longer have that paper, simply go down to the courthouse with the bill of sale and they can take care of getting the registration to the correct owner.

It's been awhile since I've looked at one closely, but there may even be a place on your registration renewal papers to indicate you no longer own the vehicle.
